Who do the Ardley out brigade think would be a suitable replacement?
The Post quotes NA as saying, after the Dover loss, "I just said they were three or four minutes away from me giving the players a team talk that said well done you've dug in and you've earned yourself a point on really tough afternoon."
Says it all really...
I can’t speak for others but my reasoning in keeping Ardley for now is because this is his season alone to make or break his career. I don’t believe he was mainly responsible for our relegation, and I thought he actually did pretty well last year, all things considered....if only we had a chance to see how the season would have panned out without a lock down scenario.
This year he has his own players, a full pre season under his belt and the backing of some seemingly understanding owners. That these owners have given him time fills me with some confidence for the future whether with or without Ardley.
I understand why some people are so against him, it’s an emotional and passionate sport after all, but the common sense thing right now I feel is to give him this season....or long enough to realise that we aren’t going to go up this year, and then reassess.
We all now how sacking a manager after 4 games can pan out so I’m all for giving him at least enough rope to hang himself!
Hey Tsanho its just a shame that the rope Ardley has got , must be about 20 foot long
The problem with the whole debate is that it's being couched in terms of people being "pro-Ardley" or "anti-Ardley".
I'm neither. I'm happy to leave the owners to judge him.
I see certain aspects of Ardley's management that I quite like, and others that annoy me, but I thought he did reasonably well last season to get us to the play-off final, considering the state the club and the squad was in at the start of the season. Yes, the game at Wembley was awful, but that was out of context with our previous form which had been improving nicely before the lockdown.
Where most supporters can probably agree is that the onus is now on the manager to deliver promotion this season, and we should expect to be at or near the top of the league fairly quickly so we're in position to kick on when other teams with smaller squads struggle during the winter months. The result at Dover was a poor start, and even a 0-0 draw would still have been disappointing, so we need to get a win against Altrincham to shake off the rust and kick start the season.
If we get into the deep winter months and we're any lower than the play-off places, then people will understandably begin to question whether Ardley is getting enough out of the squad, and the owners may be amongst those asking that question, but for now let's see how things progress.
The days of sacking managers on a whim or at the behest of noisy message boards have gone under these owners, and thank God for that!

Thers lies the problem, i expect that Ardley will do just enough to keep in touch, or be in the lower play off places, without mounting a series challenge on the top position
One then has to look at the squad we have, and the resources available . Have we got a squad that is Champions material, and if Ardley fails to get us finishing top , he have failed. Or do we have a squad that is only really play off material, so If Ardley gets us to the play offs he has done a fair job??
