Wow, those rose-tinted 'EU is great' spectacles really do a job don't they?.....Originally posted by swaledale View PostI think you will find that A Turkey wants the money promised by the EU and B Turkey is less interested in EU membership it doesn't suit the current regimes political thinking, so this is just political posturing and will easily be sorted by a few million euros!
By the way, it may be an idea (if you want people to engage in a genuine debate) to try and occasionally phrase one of your responses in a way that doesn't make you come across as an arrogant tosser - a suggestion I'm pretty sure you will ignore, but I won't be here to see as I've finally had it with this site....

Don't lecture me you arrogant prick.Originally posted by swaledale View PostThere are times when your ignorance of history is astounding! Also I did not say that Europe would have been plunged into a bloody war without the EU, however it is recognised by those intelligent enough to do so that history shows that nations which have strong trading links and for whom it is mutually ebneficial to cooperate with a far less likley to go to war to settle their differences.
For the record and just so you know
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created in 1949 by the United States, Canada, and several Western European nations to provide collective security against the Soviet Union.
The European Union is set up with the aim of ending the frequent and bloody wars between neighbours, which culminated in the Second World War. As of 1950, the European Coal and Steel Community begins to unite European countries economically and politically in order to secure lasting peace.
If you want to argue with me, please do your ****ing homework first, as all you do is make yourself look a ****! Not for the first time I might add!
If I didn't know better, I'd swear you was actually Junker.
After World War II, European integration was seen as an antidote to the extreme nationalism which had devastated the continent.[27] The 1948 Hague Congress was a pivotal moment in European federal history, as it led to the creation of the European Movement International and of the College of Europe, where Europe's future leaders would live and study together.[28] 1952 saw the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community, which was declared to be "a first step in the federation of Europe."[29] The supporters of the Community included Alcide De Gasperi, Jean Monnet, Robert Schuman, and Paul-Henri Spaak.[30]
So key words federation of europe. ( no mention of this in any vote in this country)
Nationalism- funny how nationalism is now running riot in Europe following EU policies of disruption to populations.
Then the dumbed down stealth began
n 1957, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and West Germany signed the Treaty of Rome, which created the European Economic Community (EEC) and established a customs union.
Puppets, that is how we are seen, and mouth pieces like you encourage it.
You may not like it, but 17.5 million of us have an opinion and said so.

I long ago realised you weren't worth the effort of debating with, as your so wrong most of the time and really haven't a clue, but given that impressionable minds seemed to think you were credible, its been goo to destroy that credibility by showing that you were completely and utterly wrong as to why NATO was formed!
****ing priceless that when shown up as to how ignorant you are, you then accuse me of being arrogant, well thats fine by me at least I'm not stupid...

Tbf ramspride...the majority of this debate has been conducted better than most but Swale has taken an enormous amount of stick and if he is repeatedly being called an 'arrogant prick/tosser' then you have to expect a reaction. Personally I think stubborn, forthright and single minded would be better descriptions than 'arrogant'. He also seems well informed to me but that's probably because we usually broadly agree. Tricky always seems fairly far to the right and never lets the truth get in the way of his wum agenda and while it's a pity that Gaspode may be pushing off I hope that's nothing to do with this topic because I really don't understand people who moan about the content of threads that no one forces them to read or contribute to especially when it has generated almost 1500 responses compared with the standard average of about twenty.

The past few threads have raised a couple of interesting ironies. It is particularly ironic that an institution such as the EU, one of whose objectives was to promote harmony in Europe and prevent the return of nationalism / national socialism has set in motion policies which are in fact promoting the return of that very phenomenon. The free movement of labour has given the extreme right a new set of targets ulon whom to focus blame for the plight of the domestic JAMs: predominantly Eastern Europen. The EU open door policies on Middle Eastern "refugees" is doing the same thing. The institution grounded in the concept of "never againon my watch" seems to be creating the perfect conditions and environment for "ywt again".
The second irony is of course that this thread is degenerating into personal abuse and intolerance of opinion on both sides and thus becoming fractious and warlike at the expense of coherent debate. The EU promoting disharmony in a microcosm! You bunch of tossers (more irony)

With Brexit we are about to see change, for the better I hope. A big fact is people don't usually like change so that's why there has been mega discussion on this topic.
Regarding change some folk want it others don't, there is no one on this footy board going to win the argument so lets stop the dummy throwing and tighten your seatbelts for the long ride ahead and lets see what the outcome will be!

To be honest I don't have an issue with most having an opinion or a view all have something to contribute but I do take issue with Tricky's quoting inaccurate *******s and passing it off as "the facts" the guy's clearly unhinged (well he is a forest fan) although even he has a valid point shame its obscured by so much crap!
Yes sometimes I get so frustrated i become intemperate in my language, so apologies to all but NOT Tricky, i really should just ignore the guy's posts but when he is wrong I can't resist!
Anyway the Rams are on a roll!!
