  • Yeah papers saying JG exploring the possibility of bringing him back! Hopefully there is something we have yet to experience because from what I witnessed last season he looked like he had a win a competition!!

    • Not seen any mention of the Oldham game so suppose this is as good as anywhere for an opinion on what i saw!

Down side was only SCH and Sibbs of a Scottish persuasion, but both of them performed better than i expected from reports ive heard. Not gonna mention Ferry or Traps, mainly because we know what to expect from them.

Cant remember either keeper doing much wrong, and was very impressed with Iovu who mostly strolled the game, and Keresztes impressed being so new to the squad, especially some of the sliding tackles.

Pappoe was a stand out for me and maybe the best on the day, but i need to see more of Naamo, Fatah and Sapsford.

JG has something to think about though as he has a choice in midfield between Pappoe and Camara, Sevelj and Sibbs, then Campbell(please no) and Stephenson might still get added to that. Add Dolcek and i think we have the basis for a decent squad, but now ive said that, im sure it will bite me soon enough!

Strain though, i dont know what it is, but he seemed to come on fine, but im sure he was caught with his head spinning when we needed some decisive action. Came to nought but might cost us staring tomorrow.

      • Seems we are in a decent position to add 2-3 more and JG seems relaxed about it

        Saw this elsewhere regarding Luca

        • The transfer window, for teams like United, has become a game of two halves in recent years.
There is the early part, where clubs get free agents in as permanent signings.
Then there is the later period when English clubs have largely sorted their squads out for the coming season and decided which of their fringe players might benefit from going out on loan. And that’s when the Premier League clubs’ very promising youngsters, sucked in to their moneyed youth systems from all over the world, are sent to be tested in a tough league like ours or an English Championship club.
The signings made in this second portion of the window might be what makes or breaks the season for us, and for our rival clubs in this league.

          • Luka has the heart of a lion but honestly I can't ever see him being good enough for the EPL especially at Liverpool. Also where does he fit in our team now? We are going to be overflowing with central midfielders

I suspect he has been give a new contract so they can get a fee for him after they have put him in the shop window. And that shop window will likely be loaned somewhere else.

              • Rumours that Jort has signed for Cambur in the Netherlands. Surely frees up that extra wage for a striker if true.

If that is true then we need to sign an Argentinian striker. The reasoning is 1994 we had Ivan, 2025 we have Ivan Dolcek. 2010 we had Damien who had a hand in it to win the Scottish Cup 2010. 2025/26 Goodwin to banish his cup run woes and become the third United manager to lift the Scottish. Doubt 1970 would be celebrating if indeed it did materialise. Imagine winning the Scottish Cup with all these foreigners.....

Like Jort a lot, always gave everything, shame about the lack of goals

Kyle Vassell hasnÂ’t signed for anyone yet, maybe waiting to see results tonight ;-)

Van der Sande joins from Dundee United, where he remained goalless last season, but previously proved himself an accurate midfielder in the Eerste Divisie with notable performances for Excelsior, NAC Breda, and ADO Den Haag. At these clubs, he scored 13, 13, and 11 league goals respectively, so Cambuur expects him to make a valuable contribution in Leeuwarden as well. - "Headliner - FC Den Bosch"

So a striker that was never a striker

He did mention more than once in his first interviews that he wasn't a "striker" he didn't say midfielder (maybe that's a new tag) He said he was a forward that links up play to and from the midfield, and to be fair that is a better description.

Wish him all the best, he seemed a decent guy. REALLY wish, he had burst the net at the ET end just once, the place would have erupted.

                        • Probably a bit early but for me the squad as it stands looks a bit like a squad mixu put together. Players individually look alright but as far as a team goes it doesn?t look great.

Hopefully something will click and they can make those 4 yard passes to each other instead of giving it away cheaply.

Still early doors though so here hoping.
