But Churchill was still able to retain his wit when under the influence:Originally posted by lunaspie View PostThe only Churchillian aspect of that leadership was it's alcohol intake.
“Sir, you are drunk.”
“And you, Bessie, are ugly. But I shall be sober in the morning, and you will still be ugly.”

I thought I was discussing rather than arguing, maybe your strings need a retune.Originally posted by BanjoPie View PostI refuse to go the full ten yards with you elite. It seems your life ambition is to seek confrontation and cause arguments on this forum.
It made me smile how most of the tabloid front pages lead with stories about Johnson wanting to let old people die and the sheer incompetence at the heart of government. However, The Mail, Express and Telegraph report that it was all the fault of Cummings, and the front page of The Sun doesn't mention it at all!
The best and most meaningful front page surprisingly belongs to The Star:
BRITAIN: AN APOLOGY
The Star may have given the impression over the last few years that Boris Johnson and Co were useless, moronic, inept, pointless and pathetic clowns who were all out for themselves. It turns out they're much, much, much, much, much worse than that. We are happy to set the record straight.

No, Oldie, this is not just another Captain Hindsight case. Elite, like one or two others on this board, was discerning enough to know that we had a PM who had no insights and no eye for detail. Joined with a bitter man with serious mental health issues (Cummings) we could tell that nothing good would come out of this. Their scant regard for human life was never in my doubt and now it's documented.Originally posted by Old_pie View PostHow would he know 3 years ago that the statement was inaccurate? Seemed to me at the time that the government was making all the right noises, getting the medics and scientists in and doing daily briefings to the nation. Why didn't Whitty, Vallance and others take a stance and call out the nonsense that was going on?
I understand being embarrassed at how inept and crass it all appears to have been now that the full story it is coming out, but at the time, when we were treading unknown territory it did seem as if attempts were being made to deal with a situation other nations were also struggling to come to terms with.
Personally, and coming from one to the right of centre in general, is that BoJo should face the courts for he contempt he seems to have displayed (and others of course) for the public. He was and seems not to have understood that he was a public servant and the one real opportunity he had to show Churchillian leadership ended up with merely succeeding in failure.
Banjo obviously thinks that having himself at the top of a fred that deals with an utter disaster is some kind of achievement. You, sir, are a tosser.

To be fair to Banjo he did change his opinion as the truth started to emerge. It's obvious that at least one other poster still has their head firmly in the sand and just tries to discredit the sources even though what's being reported is blatantly true.Originally posted by sidders View PostBanjo obviously thinks that having himself at the top of a fred that deals with an utter disaster is some kind of achievement. Long before Brexit I had repeatedly said that Boris Johnson was a useless bullsh!tting liar. He has an incredible talent for getting people to believe what he says, but I was never taken in. He portrays himself as some sort of barnstorming, maverick leader, but the reality is very different. When the bold words have to be put into action he's desperately weak, indecisive, incompetent and cowardly. You can lie to parliament and hope to get away with it, but you can't lie to a virus. It's great to see the truth finally emerging in this inquiry, but the sheer scale of the staggering incompetence, corruption and deceit at the heart of government must be heartbreaking to anyone who lost a loved one.
The day Boris Johnson managed to persuade enough people to give him a large majority was one of the darkest days in history for our nation.

This is just one example of the rampant islamophobia on here lately, but I wonder if this tedious berk gets a ban for calling the elected Muslim mayor of London a terrorist?Originally posted by JoePass View PostYawnnnnnnnn. Can you honestly blame people for being afraid of Muslims, given the actions of Islamic militants, God knows how many we have let in the country.
I see an application for an Islamic Party has just been rejected, if Labour get in no doubt they will approve it. If so be afraid be very afraid, especially if gay lol they are so tolerant of these type of people.
