  • I appear to be out of step here.

'clever' 'genius' breaks covid laws he helps devise for the good of the country, then explains breaking said laws himself by telling the public he took a 200 mile drive with family in car to test his eyesight. then 'genius' gets sacked and starts dishing the dirt on the UK pm who will likely lose his job for it too

guess that's the thing about geniuses, without their huge noggins, you just don't get how intelligent they are

From a different perspective I'd make a similar observation about Peter Mandelson. I don't like the guy and I regard him as one of the chief architects of the vacuous political landscape we've seen for much of the last 20 years, but nobody can deny that his strategy in the mid-to-late 1990s worked extremely well for Tony Blair and 'New Labour', and continued to do so for the next decade.

        Yep.

These people are public schoolboys playing public schoolboy games. They couldn’t give a monkeys about anything else except furthering the interests of themselves and their friends.

Johnson’s stupidity and hubris has caught up with him at last, but the fact that the public care far more about a few parties than the damage they’ve done over the last 11 years is tbh a bit depressing.

didn't see this. appreciate the pov but it reminds me of the old joke:

Two geniuses walk into a bar. ones says "I'll have H20 please."
The other one says "I'll have H20 too please."
          Only one genius leaves

it's great having genius political strategic nous, but if the result is a huge giant sh!t show then really what good is it? (unless you're a tory).

            totally agree with this post.

and I'm extremely tired of the country ALWAYS thinking that what we need is more old school tie leaders.

            • The Guardian Saturday supplement is a must for those interested enough to learn more about Cummings. It's written by a columnist who has been a subscriber to his podcast - which costs a tenner a month and has made him a small fortune. The man is all about systems and cares not for people as individuals. His analysis of Bozo is spot on and not good reading for Carrie.

Told us what? You told us Boris would "clear the swamp".

Instead, he's polluted it even more.

                  • ... Snobhead 1 ... I said no such thing. I said we need the swamp to be cleared. DC is/was the only one clear/brave enough to state the obvious. Consequently the Establishment will close ranks, as ever, to maintain the status quo. Susan the civil servant will produce something that protects the Establishment, be in no doubt.

I'm not in any doubt. I'm sure the report will say that they did have parties and it was wrong, but nothing will point to Boris.

                      • The report will be rigged and a white wash absolving Boris of everything.
Sue Gray will then sit tight and awai the honours list and in a year or two...hey presto shes a Dame...or similar ..!

                          • The old saying about if voting changed anything they’d ban it could equally apply to these poxy ‘investigations’ and enquiries.
