Like every single first world nation, the UK depends on immigration to continue to function. Like, at all.

If you aimed for steady population / no growth, you would also collapse because your population would continue to age until the point where you had more retirees than workforce. Fundamentally, the only way to solve this to make more babies, but first world nations have proven completely incapable of addressing this issue for the last several decades.

Hell, we haven't had a sensible discussion about it let alone proposed a solution, let alone implemented one.

Every single article convincing you to be angry about immigration without even bringing up this issue is lying to you. Every article that paints immigration as anything but a bipartisan platform policy is lying to you. There is no major party in any first world nation with an even remotely credible plan to solve this issue. All of them intend to kick the can down the road with huge immigration, indefinitely.
This is true in the current paradigm, but who knows what the future holds with AI and other emerging technologies completely reshaping our notions of society, economy, work, productivity, purpose, etc.

Re birth rates - it's obviously a complex and multifaceted issue, but I'd imagine the main reasons why people born here are having fewer babies include a sense that our society is in terminal decline, inability for the average couple to own a home, the fixation on careers over family, and the rapid move away from conservative values.

Expanding our population by bringing in millions of foreigners seems a very short-sighted sticking-plaster-type solution to a problem that needs addressing at the root level.

I'm sure there are other forms of illegal immigration (like flying over and overstaying a visa) but I feel rather strongly that illegal immigration is largely a smokescreen issue politicians throw up to hide the fact that they wholeheartedly support massive immigration. They do the same in the US and Australia.

I'm not saying illegal immigration is ok or that nothing should be done about it. I am saying, though, that the people convincing you that it's a big problem are lying, and using it to cover for the fact that their policy is to shovel a million people a year into the country.
It's the fact that there are few measures in place to de-incentivise the arrivals which angers people. Preferential treatment for healthcare etc as well as full board accommodation in which many of these men, refuse to even share a room and continually take the piss in regard to the treatment they think we owe them. They get language courses, smart phones and credit and a recent report states that they're now being given Xboxes!

The liberals will not allow them to be held in any kind of camp or controlled environment which exacerbates the issue as does the insistence on applying the misused, human rights laws which permit serious criminals to remain in the UK on ridiculous grounds. It's undeniable also that some lawyers are complicit, in helping illegals, make claims on ever ridiculous grounds.

Starmer continues to throw good money after bad, overseas, at the same time as stripping resources from local councils. Regardless of staffing issues in the various departments which the left continually blame, steps have to be taken to remove people pdq, Trump seems to be able to do it.

Is it any wonder that people are angry.

Albanese is going be thrown out of power in Australia.

Trudeau leaving the sinking ship in Canada

          And

          Now

Farage leading in the latest UK polls.

Oh happy days 🤣🤣. The silent majority is regaining its mojo and no longer remaining silent.

The BBC says just over 36,000 arrived in the UK by boat across the channel in 2024. Did they stand and count every single one or is there a remote possibility that quite a few got over without being noticed?

Trump said in 2019 he should have received the Nobel Peace Prize not Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. He was taking the pi$$.

He also said he?d never get one.

Where?s your proof that he craves one?

More might have said or he thought about it comments.

That is the biggest bull$hit I have ever heard. Another doomsday scenario that Trump is going to create but no proof at all despite him previously serving four years as President.

Everything is might be nothing can be proved.

More examples of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Zelenskyy says that if Trump won?t hasten Ukraine?s membership of NATO, then Ukraine should be allowed to have US nuclear weapons in Kiev.

My god, the war has obviously impacted on his mental state.

Yes it is strange what some people might say when their nation is slowly bleeding to death with a powerful aggressor on the doorstop.

                      • My two favourite current quotes :

Kathy Burke - 'I love being 'woke'. It's much nicer than being an ignorant ****ing ****'
'If you were ever curious about what you would have done in 1930s Germany... you're doing it now'

They seem very relevant having scanned this thread.

                        • The disciples of the cult of Trump seem to be quite happy to pass off anything stupid that he utters as a joke or should not be taken seriously. Basically holding him to no standards whatsoever whilst simultaneously holding other world leaders to higher standards.

It's amazing how far some members of the human race can be dragged in to support this complete and utter farce. It would be both funny and fascinating if it had no real-world consequences.

Well, if you don't want to engage with a debate about the economic consequences of sweeping tariffs and a dramatic cut in federal spending, then
we'll just have to wait and see.

Yep. If I were him I'd be going one step further and building my own.

In Trumpland hypocrisy is not a thing. It seems that as a concept it just doesn't register at all. The cognitive dissonance is on another level.
I don't know whether to go and buy more popcorn or start building a shelter.
