...aaaand, inevitably the migrant has now been arrested on suspected assault charges, and a young woman who has a connection to the home has been arrested for (deep breath) possession of an offensive weapon, affray, assault on an emergency worker, common assault and possession of cannabis.
Clearly the incident isn't anything like Southport, but the rage and speculation before the thing develops is. As with Southport (and the Liverpool car incident, Manchester Airport, etc) it's sometimes prudent to let things develop at what would have been a normal pace before we had a Samsung/Apple/Facebook/Tiktok film crew on every scene. It's easy to see fault in the way the authorities and justice system work (and often that remains the case much later on) but I'm grateful we don't have social media and the loudest voices feeding into one-hour-justice.
