I really don’t know...come to think of it...you (I think) and I tick all of those boxes above and I consider myself pretty ‘normal’ but that doesn’t mean I consider gay people to be abnormal in some way. In the minority...yes...probably by definition...and I can understand the majority thinking in the way you suggest but I can also understand how those within the Gay/LGBT ‘community’ are reluctant to ‘drop their guard’ particularly given the increasing climate of bigotry which appears to exist on both sides of the Atlantic.
Check the definition of 'normal'. It doesn't mean gay folk are 'subnormal' or 'abnormal', but if you pick on any single person the world over they will 'normally' be hetero. And incidentally, that should mean that when I switch on the TV I should 'normally' be met with a non-LGBT feature, and yet increasingly that's not the case.
